ANGLICAN PRAYER BEADS +++ Organ Accompaniment CDs
Peacock Feathers & Quills +++ ANGLICAN CHURCH +++ Shire Draft Horeses
ST. MARY MAGDALENE'S RETREAT is pleased to offer a set of two CDs designed to accompany the singing of hymns during worship services. While it would be fantastic to always have an church organ and organist, it is not always possible. Organ accompaniment music on compact disc is the ideal choice for home churches, small parishes, outdoor services, and those times when an organist is unavailable.
These CDs were made by music freely accessible in the public domain and were originally prepared for use exclusively at the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene located on the retreat grounds. Each hymn has a short musical introduction so that everyone can begin singing at the same time and each ends with an "amen." There are a total of 40 different tunes and, depending upon which hymnal is used (1940 Hymnal or 1982 Hymnal), can provide accompaniment for 56-59 different hymns.
Each set of two CDs comes with a Hymn Cross Reference Guide organized into categories:
For those people who have already purchased the organ accompaniment CDs offered by Roger Read at Cecilia Recordings, Praise Service Accompaniments, we can provide a Hymn Cross Reference Guide including the tunes on Mr. Read's two CDs, Twenty Favourite Hymns and Christmas Carols. Please indicate which cross reference guide you would like shipped with your order. Mr. Read passed away in October, 2005, and at present these CDs are no longer available for purchase.
The hymns on the two CD set offered by St. Mary Magdalene's were selected to add to Mr. Read's collection which contained a number of Christmas carols. The first lines are indicated, although they are not necessarily contained in both the 1940 and 1982 Hymnal.

"I just received the CDs I ordered from you and have been listening to them. They are just absolutely beautiful! I am truly blessed to have them. Many, if not most, of the hymns are in traditional Catholic hymnals. Otherwise I am familiar with a lot of them growing up as a Lutheran. I just love and enjoy organ music and music like what is on these CDs is a great blessing in times of meditation, and even traveling in my car. Again, thanks so much for them!"
~ Gary McClard, Missouri
"I am glad to know this collection of CD hymns in available to help churches of any size with their worship of Jesus Christ. Your selection of hymns is excellent, representing many of the greatest hymns of all times, and the tempos are, in my estimation, just right - lively yet dignified, not too draggy as some organ recordings are wont to be. Some thirty years ago I was a missionary starting new congregations from scratch, and how I would have loved to have this set available back then...If you use an average of three hymns per service, these forty hymns alone would provide enough for an entire church year with something like one repetition every 13 weeks - that is, no hymn would need to be repeated more often than about once per quarter year.
